Please help

I hope my blogging friends can help me. I have two problems I need help with. First, does any one have a recipe for sugar-free cookies.  There are two older guy so come into work, who live alone. Charlie and John. Us girls will make treats for them But John can't have sugar so unfortunately he goes with out. I would love to find a good sugar free recipe for him and surprise him with cookies.

Second I lost my voice  at work today.  Everyone got a good laugh out of it.One person said I sounded like a chipmunk. Another said I sounds like I inhaled helium. Does anyone know how I can get my voice back by tomorrow. And yes I know not to talk. As hard as that will be to do,especially for me. I am not sick .My voice just stop working. I will be thankful for any help I can get on these two problems. Good thing is I don't have to work again till Monday.

  1. Hot water with lemon and honey is great for a sore throat, I just make it to taste. If you think you might have some kind of infection in there you can also try gargling with apple cider vinegar - I know gross.
Can he have absolutely no sugar? You can do a search for honey cookies. I use a sugar called palm sugar that has a very low glycemic index making it safe for most diabetics and my pastor who has celiac disease. Here are some of my recipes using palm sugar and you can find more info on my blog by doing a search and there is a link on the right. and I hope this helps!

    1. If you dont have a cold and lost your voice I would seek medical attention could be seriouse ! That is sweet to do for these guys ! Here is a site for sugar free cookies,1810,150163-240193,00.html Hope your voice comes back and its nothing seriouse . When my throat is sore I drink a hot cup of tea with honey in it , it coats the throat !

  2. So sorry you lost your voice. Do you have allergies? Sometimes I loose mine or it gets raspy when my allergies are bothering me. Hot tea and lemon work wonders for me.

Check out this blog: for sugar free recipes. I don't know if that is the kind of sugar free recipes you are looking for but none that we have tried have disappointed!

  3. I know the answer to question number 2- drink hot liquids!! By the way, loving your blog :)

  4. I wish I had a sugar free cookie recipe. I made some orange wafer cookies one year and it didn't taste too good. I need to be trying more, considering some of my family cannot have sweets like that.

  5. I'm no help with either problem but I hope your voice gets better!

  6. This may be a little late for you, but GSE (Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract) will work. Mix 10 drops to a cup of lukewarm water and gargle extensively with the solution 5-6 times a day. Additionally, use internally by putting 3-4 drops in a small amount of real fruit juice or warm tea and drink 3-4 times per day.

Everyone in my family is diabetic. Just use stevia (Truvia) in place of the sugar and bake as usual. If you have one of those no-bake chocolate cookie recipes that uses melted unsweetened chocolate with oatmeal, just sweeten with truvia. Makes a really good cookie! For diabetics, the flour in cookies and cakes is as much of a problem as the sugar, so the no-bake cookies are really good for diabetics--and they are chocolate! :)

Also, homemade cheesecake made with truvia is very good because it also does not have flour and in full size is a good choice instead of cake for birthdays and special occasions. You can make these in the small muffin tins in pretty papers so they are the size of a cookie too. Yummy! :)

  7. Splenda can be used as a sugar substitute. I would recommend checking the back of the bag/box to see if it is the same measurement. So if you have a favorite recipe already use that and sub the splenda.

For your throat, I would suggest lots of warm liguids and extra rest.

    take care,
    Robin from the Roost

  8. You are most welcome! Here is an easy cheesecake dessert from Philly Cream Cheese.
You would just put the Truvia (my fav over splenda or any of the others!) in a blender and blend to make it more like powdered sugar and for the cherry pie filling, Wal-Mart carried No Sugar Added Cherry Pie Filling in the Great Value brand. There is also sugar free Cool Whip if you want to put Cool Whip on it.

Here is a recipe for Boiled Cookies (my mom's) that are a no bake and can easily be done with Truvia instead of the sugar. Look for page 109

Here is a recipe for a low fat marbled cheesecake that you could use too by changing the sugar to Truvia. Just put it in a muffin pan.

I still can't find the one that I usually use. I will see if my niece has it hanging around since I got it from her.

  9. Hey Michelle... Sorry you lost your voice. My mother always gave us honey, lemon juice and a wee bit of whiskey, warmed up just a little. (she only put the whiskey in when we were a bit older and it was literally just a couple of drops. LOL)

I was going to suggest substituting the Stevia for sugar, but Labbie beat me to it! It's so sweet of you girls to do this for Charlie and John.

Hope your voice is back to normal ASAP. Have a great week!
