We went to Quartsite Arizona to visited Rick's dad. They are snow birds and stay about 4 months to escape the cold winters in Idaho. We were there for a week. They have a big swap meet that takes up four blocks. Unfortunately they start packing up at the end of January,so there weren't many places left to shop . That left a lot of open time since, that is about all that is there. I have been wanting to make a crochet rug for a while now,so I packed up my fabric, and needle to take with me. It was really nice to be able to set outside and visit and still have something to do with my hands.( I am not one to sit still). Cleo loved it too she would tunnel under my strips of fabric or attack the strips as I crocheted. We had a few battles over that, but I finally won. Or she just got tired of playing with them. I am really happy with the way the rug turned out. It's new home will be in front of the bed in my guest bedroom. I will be making a set in red for my kitchen. The cutting is a little time consuming but the crocheting go's really quick. I will really enjoy making more of these.

It turned out very pretty and Cleo looks like she was realy enjoying the fabric.
ReplyDeletevery nice! I am saving colored T shirts to make a rug. Did you put anything on the bottom to keep the rug from slipping? Just wondering how to keep it still on a hardwood floor.
ReplyDeleteIt is very pretty. I love the color! Cleo is having fun.

ReplyDeletewow I remember quartsite so well, we use to have a vaca spot on the colorado river on border of ca. and arizona...when we would go down there from Orange County for about a week we would always set aside a day to go to Quartsite, did you know it is the largest swapmeet in the world...it is something to see...all the snowbirds and snowbirds that make stuff all year and set up camp there to sell it, or to sell their collectibles...I have some beautiful glass pieces I purchased there...I also remember when going there we always would stop at the pie booth and you could buy a fresh blueberry baked piece of pie right out of the oven with ice cream,...to die for let me tell you...then in all the big tents all the fresh flax and vitimins and minerals...when the swap meet is in full swing, it is something to see...thanks for the memories..
